Over the past
seventeen years I have learned that the relationships we forge
and our capacity to remain true to ourselves are the most
important things in life. Through pageantry I have developed
a strong sense of who I am and who I want to become. I have
been blessed with four older brothers who love me dearly.
My parents are Dr. Ross and Valerie Prochnow, God has truly
endowed me with a supportive family who encourages me in all
I do.
In my life I have numerous passions. My true love is my relationship
with Jesus Christ, which drives me to always strive for excellence
and consistently bring glory to Him. Another passion which
is dear to my heart is my love for people, I love meeting
and getting to know individuals. I believe that the relationships
we build are invaluable and are the most important aspects
in life. My most valued accomplishment is having the honor
of being named Miss Congeniality in nine pageants. I have
been competing in pageants over the last eight years and absolutely
love the feeling of competing and developing friendships with
the other contestants. I have been honored to be named a State
Speech Champion in two tournaments, speaking about issues
which are significant in my life such as the Importance of
Education, the Cultivation of Inner Beauty within Our Youth,
and the Pride I Take in Being a Texan. I aspire to one day
be a News Anchor for CNN or to be a film actress. I am a 2005
P.S.I.A. State One-Act Play Champion for my performance in
Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) and was named U.S.A. Regional Best
Actress and U.S.A. State All-star Cast. The year before I
was named a U.S.A. Regional One-Act Play Champion for my performance
in A Midsummer Night’s (Helena). I believe acting opens
the mind to visualize the world in another’s perspective.
In addition to my acting accomplishments, I have been taking
voice lessons for the past eight years and have recently had
the opportunity to sing with rising county star and good friend
Charley Austin. I have also been a professional model over
the past three years. I was blessed to spend last summer in
New York City and work as a full time model with my New York
agency, Funny Face Today. Among my acting, singing, and modeling
interests, I was also Vice-President of the Latin Club, on
the Varsity Golf Team, on the JV Soccer Team, on the JV Volleyball
Team, a member of the Honor Choir, and a member of the Swing
Dance Troupe.
Although I love developing my personal talents, I learn the
most about myself by serving others. I have contributed over
350 hours of Volunteer Work. Throughout these hours I have
spent time with the elderly, ran children camps, built homes
for the impoverished, mentored young children, and volunteered
at homeless shelters. The service hours which have impacted
my life the most have been my trips to Mexico and Waco. In
Waco I worked with inner-city children and organized a children’s
day camp. Last Spring I traveled to Mexico and built homes
for the truly needy. The relationships I built with the children
in Mexico and their gratitude has shaped me into the young
lady I am now. I believe Volunteer work is the best tool for
self-development available in our society.
I have been so blessed in my life and know that the only reason
I have been able to accomplish what I have now is due to my
mother and father and the firm support of my friends and family.
I look forward to using my title over the next year to impact
the youth of Austin and encouraging them to remain true to
who God has created them to be and the importance of cultivating
a firm moral compass throughout their lives.
Sincerely, Rachel Prochnow
