REQUIREMENTS
Contestants must
be single (never married/never given birth to a child), a United States Citizen, a resident of the State of Texas and between the ages of 13 and 25.

MISS AUSTIN USA - AGE REQUIREMENTS
To compete in this official preliminary to the MISS TEXAS USA® Pageant, contestants must be at least seventeen (17) and under twenty-six (26) years of age on February 1st the year they participate in the Miss Austin USA Pageant. The Miss Texas USA® pageant will be held in June after the Miss Austin USA pageant

MISS AUSTIN TEEN USA - AGE REQUIREMENTS
To compete in this official preliminary to the MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® Pageant, contestants must be at least thirteen (13) and under eighteen (18) years of age on February 1st the year they participate in the Miss Austin Teen USA Pageant. The Miss Texas Teen USA pageant will be held in November.

RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Contestants must reside or attend school in the Austin Greater Area which consists of the following Counties: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Lee, Milam, Travis and Williamson. Brazos County is also allowed to compete in the Miss Austin USA pageant

COMPETITIONS
The competition is divided in 3 categories:
> Panel Interview
> Swimsuit
> Evening Gown
The judges will be looking for an all around winner. She may not be the most outstanding in any one category yet she will score highly in all categories. The judging is based on poise, personality, intelligence and beauty.
There is NO TALENT competition and no experience is necessary.

In addition to choosing Miss Austin USA and Miss Austin Teen USA , awards will be presented to the Most Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit, Miss Congeniality and the Butterfly Award.

COMPETITION WARDROBE
Evening Gown - There are no specific requirements regarding the gown other than that it should be full length, fit you well and compliment your own coloring and physical features.
Personal Interview -For the judges' interviews, you will need a daytime dress or suit or pant suit...something similar to what you might wear to church or a job interview.
Swimsuit - Competition one or two piece swimsuit (conservative style). No string bikinis. If in doubt, check with the director it must follow strict pageant guidelines
Opening Number Costume- TBA


PHOTOS
In addition to the picture(s) in your program ad, you will need to provide 1, 5"x7" color photo - head and shoulder shot, of the same pose, printed vertically, without crown or sash.
Photogenic Awards will be presented to the contestant in each division determined to have the best photograph by our judges


FEES AND WHAT THEY COVER
The entry fee is $200. It helps cover the cost of pageant expenses such as advertising, auditorium rental, music, sets and scenery, workshops, administration and the many other expenses involved in putting a show of this caliber together.
In additional half page ads must be purchased at $275 each (add $50 if not camera ready). These pages are used to recognize sponsors and are an excellent tool for raising sponsorships.
Fees may be obtained from a sponsor, group of sponsors, family, friends, or the contestant, herself. Donations from corporations can be 100% tax deductible as advertising expense.

MISS AUSTIN USA PAGEANT

Miss Austin USA and Miss Austin Teen USA are Official Preliminaries to the MISS TEXAS USA ®and Miss Texas Teen USA
independently produced by Starr Productions in Association with The Crystal Group


THE PAGEANT will be very glamorous, exciting and entertaining for you and any of your family and friends who attend. It will truly be a very memorable experience (the type of event that you will be proud to tell your children about years from now) and could lead to new opportunities in your life. MISS AUSTIN USA & MISS AUSTIN TEEN USA win a prize list valued at over $20,000 and will win her fees paid to the prestigious 2009 MISS TEXAS USA® Pageant to be held in June, 2008 or MISS TEXAS TEEN USA to be held in November of 2008

THE COMPETITION is divided in 3 categories: Personal Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown. The judges will be looking for an all around winner. She may not be the most outstanding in any one category yet she will score highly in all categories. The judging is based on poise, personality, intelligence and beauty. There is no talent competition and no experience is necessary. In addition to choosing MISS AUSTIN USA & MISS AUSTIN TEEN USA , awards will be presented to the Most Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit, and Miss Congeniality.

WHERE? WHEN? The pageant will be held in the beautiful Hays County Performing Art Center
Friday & Saturday, February 29 & March 1, 2008 The Preliminary Show will be held on Friday evening, February 29th at 8PM and the Final Show on Saturday evening, March 1st. at 6:30PM

DANCE REHEARSALS to learn the dance numbers 1-5PM on Sunday afternoon at the Lake Creek 24 Hour Fitness Center, January 27th and February 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. It is not mandatory to be in the dance numbers, but it is a lot of fun and everyone is a star!! There will be three mandatory rehearsals at the auditorium Wednesday, February 27th, 6 -10PM ; Thursday, February 28th, 6-10PM and Saturday, March 1st 12-5:30PM

WORKSHOPS: will be held for everyone interested in learning about hair, make up, modeling techniques & interviews on Saturdays from 1-5PM at the Wingate Hotel and Conference Center in Round Rock…February 2nd & February 9th from 1-5PM; Mock Interviews will be on Saturday Feb. 16th

COMPETITION WARDROBE - You will be required to provide your own competition wardrobe:
1) Evening Gown - There are no specific requirements regarding the gown other than that it should be full length, fit you well and
compliment your own coloring and physical features.
2) Personal Interview Attire - For the judges' interviews, there are no specific guidelines other than that you should wear a daytime
outfit that you feel is appropriate for interview, something that suits your taste and personality. A good guideline would be to ask
yourself what you would wear for a press conference or television interview
3) Opening production number – Denim/blue jean shorts, Red, White or Blue swimsuit top, Black long sleeve shirt to be tied at midriff, silver belt, and silver cowboy boots. (get old or cheap boots and spray paint them silver.) Rhinestone loop earrings
4) Competition swimsuit - One or two piece swimsuit in solid red, white OR blue. No string bikinis. If in doubt, check with the director it must follow strict pageant guidelines

FEES AND WHAT THEY COVER-Your entry fee is $200. In addition there is a mandatory program ad fee of $275. Each contestant will receive a half-page ad in the program book, which will include your photo, name and sponsor acknowledgments. (You will have the option of purchasing additional full page ads in the program book for $300 if electronically ready for print, or $350 if we do the layout for you. The photo(s) to be used on this additional page may be photo(s) of your choice. (subject to pageant approval) No swimsuit photos, please!)

Fees may be obtained from a sponsor, group of sponsors, family, friends, or the contestant, herself. Any donation from a company is 100% tax deductible as an advertising expense. Fees can be paid for by check, MasterCard and Visa (8% handling fee will be added to all charges.)
All fee payments are totally non-refundable after the deadline dates.

PHOTO'S - In addition to your picture(s) for the program, you will need 1, 5"x7" color photo, head shot, of the same pose, printed vertically for the judge's forms. This photo will also be on our website..
